Tasting notes
"The divine 2009 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe shows an impressive level of elegance and grace. You taste the fleshy fruit flavors and the bold tones of the warmer vintage, but there's a good amount of structure and textural finesse to keep the wine in perpetual balance. This Riserva is just beginning to show the signs of careful evolution with fine dustings of white pepper and raw licorice stick. Its texture is exceedingly fine and silky." 95/100, Monica Larner, Robert Parker, Jun'2015
Bottled in September 2015 after the wine was aged for more than five years in large 100-hl cask. "Very dark, developed ruby. Intense nose with lots of depth and with just a touch of leather. This is a little like the straight Bricco Boschis, but everything is more intense and complex. Liquorice and hints of dried fruit but nothing singed. Lots of iron and really minerally. Rich, sweet fruit on the attack. Acidity really playing its part. Then: very compact, fine, grainy, long tannins streamlining the ripe fruit. Impressive stuff." 17.5/20, Walter Speller, Jancis Robinson, Nov'2015
