The story of Trentino

Italy's northernmost alpine wine region — where the Alps shelter valleys warm enough to ripen Bordeaux-style blends alongside Pinot Grigio and local varieties.

Trentino-Alto Adige is Italy's northernmost wine region — a series of steep, glacially carved valleys flanked by the Dolomites, where the mountains create microclimates warm enough to produce remarkable wine despite the latitude.

In Borghetto all'Adige, the Guerrieri Gonzaga family's Tenuta San Leonardo produces one of Italy's most celebrated Bordeaux-style blends: San Leonardo, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Carmenère/Merlot blend consistently rated 95-97 points and compared by critics to great Pauillac. The Terre Gaie estate in the Colli Euganei to the south produces a hauntingly beautiful Pinot Noir.
