The story of Champagne

France's northernmost classic wine region — the source of the world's greatest sparkling wines from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

Champagne sits at the northern extreme of French viticulture — so far north that grapes rarely ripen fully, producing wines of searingly high acidity that, when processed through the traditional method of secondary fermentation in bottle, become the world's greatest sparkling wine.

The three main varieties — Chardonnay (freshness, elegance), Pinot Noir (body, structure, red fruit) and Pinot Meunier (early drinkability, roundness) — are blended in proportions that define each house's style. We carry Pol Roger, the house that Winston Churchill drank exclusively for over 50 years, and Veuve Clicquot, whose Yellow Label is the world's most recognised Champagne.
