Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 15 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern purchases from and use of The Wine Monk, operated by The Wine Monk Pte. Ltd. (“The Wine Monk”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms. Please read them before making a purchase.

2. Age Requirement
Alcoholic beverages may only be purchased by persons aged 18 years or above.
By placing an order for alcoholic products with The Wine Monk, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally permitted to purchase alcohol in Singapore.
A person receiving an alcohol delivery must also be at least 18 years old. We or our delivery partners may request satisfactory proof of age before completing delivery.
If satisfactory proof of age cannot be provided when requested, delivery may be refused and an additional delivery charge may apply if a further delivery is required.
It is an offence for a person under 18 years of age to buy or attempt to buy liquor in Singapore.
3. Product Availability
All products are offered subject to availability.
Although we take reasonable care to maintain accurate inventory information, we sell through multiple channels and an item shown as available may occasionally have been sold or may be available in a smaller quantity than ordered.
If we are unable to fulfil all or part of an order, we will contact you. We may offer:
- the available quantity;
- a suitable alternative product; or
- store credit.
You are not required to accept an alternative product or store credit.
If we cannot supply the product ordered and you do not accept an alternative, any amount paid for the unavailable product will be refunded, ordinarily using the original payment method where reasonably practicable.
4. Product Information
We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, vintages, bottle sizes, prices and other information displayed on our website are accurate.
Wine labels, packaging, capsules, closures and presentation may change between releases and vintages. Minor differences in presentation that do not materially affect the identity of the wine will not normally constitute a defect.
Critic ratings, drinking windows, tasting notes, food-pairing recommendations and similar material are provided for general information and guidance. They may represent the views of independent critics, producers or The Wine Monk and do not guarantee how an individual bottle will taste or develop.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights available to a customer under applicable Singapore law where goods do not correspond with their contractual description or otherwise do not conform to contract.
5. Prices
Unless otherwise stated, all prices are expressed in Singapore Dollars (SGD).
The prices displayed on the website are the product prices payable by customers, excluding any separately stated delivery or other applicable charges.
The Wine Monk is currently not GST-registered and does not charge GST. If our GST status changes, the treatment of GST will be updated accordingly.
Prices may be changed at any time before an order is accepted.
Certain wines may be offered at promotional, multi-bottle, case or special prices. Any conditions relating to such pricing will be displayed with the relevant offer.
6. Pricing and Listing Errors
We take reasonable care when maintaining our product listings, but errors may occasionally occur.
Where an obvious or manifest pricing error is identified before an order is accepted, we are not obliged to accept an order at the erroneous price.
If we identify a material error in a product description, vintage, bottle size or price before dispatch, we may contact you with the correct information and ask whether you wish to proceed with the order.
If you do not wish to proceed, or if we cannot reasonably fulfil the order, the affected product will be cancelled and any amount already paid for it will be refunded.
Nothing in this clause excludes any rights or remedies available under applicable Singapore law in relation to goods that have already been supplied and do not conform to contract.
7. Placing an Order and Contract Formation
An order submitted to The Wine Monk constitutes an offer by you to purchase the products stated in the order.
An automated email, payment acknowledgement or other notification confirming that we have received your order does not, by itself, constitute acceptance of your order.
Unless we expressly agree otherwise, a contract of sale is formed when we:
- expressly confirm acceptance of the order; or
- dispatch the relevant products,
whichever occurs first.
We may decline or limit an order before acceptance for reasonable grounds including:
- insufficient stock;
- a manifest pricing or listing error;
- inability to verify payment;
- suspected fraud or unauthorised use of a payment method;
- applicable legal or regulatory restrictions; or
- circumstances that make fulfilment impracticable.
Where we decline an order after having received payment, we will refund the amount paid for products that will not be supplied.
8. Orders Placed Through WhatsApp, Email, Instagram or Other Channels
We may accept orders through thewinemonk.com, WhatsApp, email, Instagram or other ordering channels expressly made available by us.
Where an order is placed outside the website, we may provide or refer you to these Terms as part of the ordering process.
By confirming or proceeding with an order after being provided with or directed to these Terms, you agree that they apply to that order, together with any specific terms expressly agreed between you and The Wine Monk.
If a specific written term agreed for a particular transaction conflicts with these general Terms, the specifically agreed term will apply to that transaction to the extent of the inconsistency.
9. Payment
Payment may be made using payment methods offered by The Wine Monk from time to time, which may include:
- major credit and debit cards through our online checkout;
- PayNow; and
- bank transfer.
Products will ordinarily not be dispatched until full payment has been received or otherwise confirmed.
10. Order Changes and Cancellations
If you wish to cancel or amend an order, please contact us as soon as possible.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate a request made before the order has been processed or dispatched.
Once an order has been processed, prepared for dispatch or dispatched, cancellation or modification may no longer be possible.
Pre-arrival wines, allocated wines, specially sourced wines or other products ordered specifically for a customer may be subject to additional or different cancellation terms disclosed before purchase.
Nothing in this clause limits any cancellation or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Delivery
The Wine Monk currently delivers within Singapore.
Standard Delivery
Standard delivery is:
- complimentary for orders of S$100 and above; and
- S$20 for orders below S$100.
Standard orders are generally delivered within 1–3 business days after the order and payment have been confirmed.
Express Delivery
Express delivery may be available for S$35 and is generally completed within one business day of a confirmed order.
Urgent or same-day delivery requests may be accommodated where possible. Please contact us before ordering where delivery timing is critical.
Delivery periods are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery times. We will nevertheless make reasonable efforts to fulfil deliveries within the stated timeframe.
Additional delivery charges or arrangements may apply to certain locations or circumstances as stated on our Shipping & Delivery page.
12. Delivery Address, Failed Delivery and Re-routing
You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address and appropriate contact information.
If an incorrect address has been provided, please contact us as soon as possible.
If the order has not left our storage facility, we can ordinarily amend the delivery address without charge.
If an order has already been dispatched, you may:
- arrange to retrieve it from the original delivery address; or
- request re-routing, where this remains reasonably possible.
A S$15 re-routing charge may apply where a delivery must be redirected after dispatch.
Where delivery cannot be completed because no eligible recipient is available, access cannot be obtained, the address is incorrect or for another reason attributable to the customer, a reasonable re-delivery charge may apply.
A person aged at least 18 years who accepts delivery at the address supplied by you will ordinarily be regarded as authorised to receive the order on your behalf.
13. Title and Risk
Ownership of products will not pass to you until The Wine Monk has received payment in full for those products.
Risk of loss of or damage to products passes to you once the products have been successfully delivered to the delivery address provided by you or otherwise collected by or on your behalf.
Once risk has passed, you are responsible for the appropriate transportation, handling and storage of the wine.
14. Storage and Deferred Delivery
Subject to available storage capacity, customers may request that delivery of fully paid wines be deferred for up to three months from purchase unless a different period has been expressly agreed.
Customers remain responsible for arranging delivery or collection within the agreed storage period.
We will make reasonable efforts to contact you where wines remain with us near or beyond the end of the agreed storage period.
Where wines remain uncollected or undelivered beyond the agreed period, we may, after giving reasonable notice, charge reasonable additional storage and/or delivery costs.
Any storage period exceeding three months must be expressly agreed with The Wine Monk.
15. Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Deliveries
Please inspect your order reasonably promptly after delivery.
If a bottle is broken or physically damaged during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery and provide reasonable supporting information, including photographs where available.
Where we are satisfied that physical damage occurred before or during delivery, we will arrange an appropriate replacement, credit or refund.
If the wrong wine or quantity has been delivered, please contact us promptly so that we can investigate and correct the order.
The reporting periods in this clause are intended to allow us to investigate delivery issues promptly and do not exclude any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be restricted.
16. Change-of-Mind Returns
Because wine is sensitive to storage, temperature, transportation and handling after delivery, we do not generally accept returns or provide refunds solely because a customer has changed their mind.
We may choose to accommodate a return or exchange in exceptional circumstances, but doing so in one case does not create an obligation to do so in another.
This change-of-mind policy does not affect any rights or remedies available under applicable Singapore law where goods do not conform to contract or are otherwise legally defective.
17. Corked or Faulty Wines
Wine is a natural product. Bottle variation, cork ageing and differences in the development of individual bottles can occur, particularly in mature wines.
The Wine Monk nevertheless recognises that genuine wine faults, including cork taint, can occasionally occur.
Our commercial corked-wine policy
For wines eligible under our corked-wine policy, we may provide a replacement or credit where a wine can reasonably be established, following assessment, to have been corked or otherwise genuinely faulty.
If you believe an eligible bottle is faulty, please notify us promptly after opening and in any event within 7 days after opening the bottle.
Please retain:
- the bottle;
- the cork or closure;
- the remaining wine; and
- proof or details of purchase.
We may request photographs, information about storage and handling, and return of the bottle and remaining wine so that the alleged fault can be assessed.
A claim may be declined under this commercial policy where:
- the bottle and sufficient remaining wine have not been retained to permit reasonable assessment;
- the condition complained of reflects normal bottle variation or ageing rather than a genuine fault;
- the wine has been improperly stored or handled after delivery; or
- the available evidence does not reasonably substantiate the claimed fault.
Any replacement or credit under this commercial policy is subject to the relevant wine being eligible under the policy and the fault being reasonably established.
Statutory rights unaffected
This corked-wine policy is an additional commercial policy offered by The Wine Monk.
Nothing in this clause limits or excludes any rights or remedies available to a customer under applicable Singapore law where goods do not conform to contract, including rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
18. Mature and Back-Vintage Wines
The Wine Monk sells mature and back-vintage wines, including wines that may be several decades old.
Customers purchasing older wines should be aware that natural bottle variation becomes more likely with age and that older bottles may exhibit characteristics including:
- sediment;
- variation in ullage;
- staining, scuffing or ageing of labels;
- wear to capsules;
- ageing of corks; and
- differences in the development of individual bottles.
Where we are aware of a material condition issue specific to a bottle that is relevant to a purchasing decision, we will make reasonable efforts to disclose it.
Normal characteristics of bottle ageing, reasonable cosmetic deterioration, sediment or a customer’s subjective view as to how a mature wine has evolved do not, by themselves, establish that the wine is defective.
Nothing in this clause excludes any applicable statutory rights relating to the description, quality or conformity of goods.
19. Provenance, Transport and Storage
The Wine Monk places significant importance on provenance and appropriate storage.
Depending on the wine, we source from producers, authorised distributors, established négociants, specialist importers, professional cellars and other suppliers whose provenance we consider reliable.
Where The Wine Monk directly arranges international shipment, wines are transported using temperature-controlled reefer shipping or air freight where appropriate.
Wines held by The Wine Monk in Singapore are stored in professionally managed temperature-controlled facilities.
While we take reasonable measures concerning sourcing, transportation and storage, wine remains a natural product and we cannot guarantee the sensory performance or future development of every individual bottle, particularly mature and back-vintage wines.
20. Promotions, Special Offers and Allocations
Promotions, case pricing, special offers, voucher codes and limited allocations may be subject to additional conditions displayed with the relevant offer.
Unless otherwise stated:
- offers are subject to availability;
- quantity restrictions may apply;
- offers may be withdrawn or amended before an order is accepted; and
- promotional prices or discounts may not be combined with other offers.
Where specific promotional terms conflict with these general Terms, the specific promotional terms will apply to the promotion concerned.
21. Website Content and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website content including The Wine Monk branding, photographs, graphics, design, editorial material and original text is owned by or licensed to The Wine Monk.
Such content may not be reproduced, distributed or commercially exploited without our prior permission except as permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms restricts lawful use of material belonging to third parties, including independent wine critics and producers, in accordance with the rights applicable to that material.
22. Third-Party Information
Our website may contain critic ratings, tasting notes, quotations, references or links to third-party sources.
Third-party opinions are provided for information and reference. We do not control independent third-party websites and are not responsible for their continuing availability or content.
Where drinking windows, ratings or similar opinions are attributed to an independent critic or publication, they represent that third party’s assessment and are not guarantees by The Wine Monk.
23. Personal Data
We collect, use and disclose personal data in connection with matters such as:
- processing orders and payments;
- communicating with customers;
- arranging delivery;
- maintaining customer accounts;
- preventing fraud; and
- providing services requested by customers.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how The Wine Monk collects, uses, discloses and protects personal data.
We may disclose information reasonably necessary to payment processors, logistics providers and other service providers involved in processing or fulfilling an order, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
24. Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control
We will not be responsible for delay or failure to perform an obligation where the delay or failure results from circumstances reasonably beyond our control, including severe weather, transportation or logistics disruption, governmental action, interruption of essential services, supplier disruption or similar events.
Where such an event temporarily affects an order, we will make reasonable efforts to keep affected customers informed and fulfil the order when reasonably possible.
If such circumstances make fulfilment permanently impossible or impracticable and the affected order is cancelled, we will refund amounts paid for products that have not been supplied.
25. Liability
Nothing in these Terms:
- excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful; or
- excludes, limits or restricts any statutory consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, limited or restricted.
Subject to the above, The Wine Monk will not be liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable as a consequence of our breach.
We will not be responsible for deterioration, damage or loss caused by inappropriate transportation, handling or storage after risk in the products has passed to the customer.
26. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our operations, services, policies or applicable requirements.
The version in effect when an order is accepted will ordinarily apply to that order, together with any specific terms expressly agreed for the relevant transaction.
Changes made after a contract has been formed will not retrospectively alter that contract unless agreed or required by law.
27. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as modified or removed to the minimum extent necessary, while the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
28. No Waiver
If we do not exercise or enforce a right under these Terms on a particular occasion, that does not mean that we have waived that right or prevent us from exercising it subsequently.
29. Third-Party Rights
Unless these Terms expressly provide otherwise, a person who is not a party to the contract between you and The Wine Monk has no right to enforce any provision of that contract.
30. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any contract between you and The Wine Monk are governed by the laws of Singapore.
The courts of Singapore will have jurisdiction in relation to disputes arising from or connected with these Terms or a purchase from The Wine Monk, subject to any rights or dispute-resolution avenues available to consumers under applicable law.
