01

Ordering & Pricing

Are your prices inclusive of GST?

Yes. The prices displayed on The Wine Monk website are the final prices payable by customers. The Wine Monk is currently not GST-registered and no GST is charged on purchases unless otherwise stated.

Why are your prices often lower than other retailers?

Our philosophy has always been simple: offer great wines at fair prices.

We work directly with producers, négociants and trusted suppliers, keep overheads lean, and focus on building long-term customer relationships rather than maximising margins on individual bottles.

Is there a minimum order value?

There is no minimum order value. However, delivery charges may apply for smaller orders (see Delivery section below).

Can I reserve wines before purchasing?

For selected rare and limited allocation wines, we may hold wines for a short period upon request for trusted existing Wine Monk customers, depending on availability and demand. Please contact us directly to discuss availability.

Do you offer discounts for larger purchases?

Yes. Many wines on our website have case pricing or multi-bottle pricing. In many situations, additional pricing may be available for larger purchases. Corporate, event and bulk purchase enquiries are always welcome.

Can you store wines for me after purchase?

Yes. Customers may defer delivery for up to three months after payment has been completed. Simply indicate your preferred delivery timing during checkout or contact us via WhatsApp.

02

The Wine Monk Difference

What makes The Wine Monk different from other wine retailers?

The Wine Monk was founded with a single-minded goal: to become Singapore’s most trusted source for great wines at fair prices.

Over the years, we have built a portfolio spanning First Growth Bordeaux, mature Bordeaux, iconic Super Tuscans, collectible Italian wines and everyday drinking wines that offer exceptional value.

Our aim has always been to curate a wine list that customers can trust blindly for both quality and price, without needing to search every bottle online before making a purchase.

Every wine on our list is selected because we genuinely believe in it and would happily drink it ourselves.

03

Delivery

What are your delivery charges?
  • FREE delivery for orders above S$100.
  • Orders below S$100 are subject to the delivery charge displayed at checkout.
  • Deliveries to Sentosa are subject to an additional S$7 surcharge regardless of order value.
How long will delivery take?

Most orders are delivered within 1–3 business days. We deliver on most days, including weekends and public holidays.

For urgent deliveries, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Can I choose my delivery date?

Yes. Customers may indicate a preferred delivery date during checkout and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the request.

What if I entered the wrong delivery address?

Please notify us as soon as possible.

If the delivery has not yet left our storage facility, we can usually update the address without charge.

If the delivery has already been dispatched:

  • You may arrange to retrieve the order from the originally provided address; or
  • We may be able to re-route the delivery for an additional S$15 charge.
What if my order has already been delivered to the address on my order?

Once the order has been successfully delivered to the delivery address provided in our records, our delivery obligation is deemed fulfilled.

If the delivery address was not updated before delivery, any subsequent retrieval or forwarding arrangements will be the customer’s responsibility.

Can someone else receive my order?

Yes, provided the recipient is at least 18 years old.

We reserve the right to request proof of age upon delivery. If proof of age cannot be provided when requested, delivery may be rescheduled and an additional S$20 delivery charge may apply.

Do you deliver outside Singapore?

At present, we only deliver within Singapore.

04

Wine Storage, Provenance & Authenticity

How are your wines stored?

All wines are stored in professionally managed temperature-controlled facilities to ensure they reach customers in optimal condition.

Our delivery partners use enclosed vehicles such as cars and MPVs rather than motorcycles to minimise exposure to heat and weather.

How are your wines sourced and how can I be sure they are authentic?

Every bottle imported by The Wine Monk arrives in Singapore either via temperature-controlled reefer shipments or air freight.

We source wines only from producers, authorised distributors, established négociants and trusted suppliers.

Authenticity and provenance are central to our purchasing philosophy.

What is provenance and why does it matter?

Provenance refers to a wine’s history of ownership, storage and handling.

For mature wines, provenance is often as important as the producer and vintage. A great wine that has been poorly stored may not perform as intended.

For this reason, provenance plays an important role in our purchasing decisions, particularly for mature and collectible wines.

Do you sell mature and back-vintage wines?

Yes.

One of our specialities is sourcing mature wines and older vintages from Bordeaux, Italy and other classic wine regions.

We are particularly proud of our ability to source older vintages from estates such as San Leonardo, Capezzana and Fattoria dei Barbi, where many bottles have spent much of their lives in producer cellars under ideal storage conditions.

05

Wine Selection & Buying Advice

How do you source your mature wines?

Unlike many retailers that focus primarily on current releases, we actively seek out mature wines and back vintages.

Our mature wines are sourced from producers, trusted suppliers, established négociants and specialist cellars with strong provenance records.

Where possible, we prioritise wines that have spent most of their lives in professional storage facilities or producer cellars.

Why do many of your wines have older vintages than other retailers?

One of The Wine Monk’s specialities is sourcing mature wines and back vintages that are increasingly difficult to find through conventional retail channels.

Over the years, we have developed relationships with producers, négociants, specialist importers and collectors that allow us to access older vintages directly from source or from professionally stored cellars.

As a result, our customers often have the opportunity to purchase wines that are already approaching or within their optimal drinking window without having to wait years or decades for the wines to mature themselves.

Why should I buy mature Bordeaux instead of current releases?

Many of Bordeaux’s greatest wines are designed to evolve over decades.

As these wines mature, tannins soften and complex secondary aromas emerge, including cedar, tobacco, truffle, spice and forest floor characteristics.

Buying mature Bordeaux allows wine lovers to experience these wines at or near their ideal drinking window without having to cellar them for many years themselves.

Can you help me select wines for a dinner, event or gift?

Absolutely.

Simply let us know:

  • Number of guests
  • Cuisine being served
  • Budget
  • Preferred wine styles

We will be happy to recommend suitable wines based on your requirements.

Do you offer wine recommendations based on my preferences?

Yes.

Many of our customers rely on us to recommend wines based on their tastes and budgets.

Whether you enjoy mature Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italian wines, Napa Cabernet or everyday drinking wines, we can suggest bottles tailored to your preferences.

Can you help me build a wine cellar?

Yes.

Whether you are beginning your first collection or expanding an existing cellar, we can recommend wines suitable for immediate drinking, medium-term ageing and long-term cellaring.

06

Returns, Breakages & Faulty Wines

What if my wine arrives damaged?

If any bottle arrives damaged during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours and provide photographs where possible.

We will assess the issue and arrange an appropriate replacement, credit or refund where applicable.

What if I receive the wrong wine?

Please contact us promptly and we will arrange for the correct wine to be delivered.

Can I return wine because I changed my mind?

Due to the nature of wine products, we generally do not accept returns for change-of-mind purchases. Exceptions may occasionally be considered depending on the circumstances.

What if I believe a wine is faulty or corked?

Wine is a natural and perishable product and, as is standard industry practice, all wines are sold as is and are generally non-returnable and non-refundable.

The Wine Monk takes great care in sourcing wines with strong provenance and ensuring wines are stored and transported under appropriate conditions prior to delivery. However, bottle variation, bottle ageing and cork-related faults can occasionally occur, particularly in older wines.

If you believe a wine purchased from us is faulty or corked, please notify us within 7 days of opening the bottle.

To assess the claim, we may request details of the issue encountered, photographs of the bottle and cork, evidence that the wine has been appropriately stored following delivery and return of the bottle and remaining contents for assessment.

Replacement or credit will only be considered for wines sourced directly from authorised producers where the fault can be independently verified.

Where our assessment concludes that the wine is not faulty, or where the condition of the wine may have been affected by post-delivery storage or handling, we reserve the right to decline a replacement, credit or refund.

Each case will be assessed individually and fairly, taking into account the wine, vintage, provenance and circumstances involved.

07

Orders & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We love PayNow because it helps keep our costs lower and allows us to operate efficiently.

However, we also accept major credit cards, debit cards and other payment methods available during checkout.

Can I cancel an order?

Orders may be cancelled before they have been processed or dispatched, depending on circumstances and timing.

Can I modify my order after placing it?

Please contact us immediately and we will do our best to accommodate any requested changes before the order has been processed.

08

Account & Privacy

Do I need an account to purchase?

No. Customers may check out as guests.

Creating an account simply makes it easier to manage order history and delivery details.

How is my personal information protected?

We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further details.
