Veneto

The Veneto stretches from Verona to Venice — Italy's most prolific wine region by volume, but also the home of wines of genuine distinction. Valpolicella, in the hills northwest of Verona, produces Amarone from the traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella — dried for 90 days in the *fruttai* lofts before pressing, concentrating the wine to an intensity unlike anything else in Italy.

We carry wines from three Valpolicella producers: Garbole, whose Heletto Superiore and Hatteso Amarone Riserva represent small-production hillside excellence, and PRA (Graziano Pra), whose Amarone demonstrates what happens when a great Soave producer turns their precision to the red wine of the same hills. Terre Gaie's Stema Pinot Noir from the volcanic Colli Euganei is the region's quiet surprise.
