The producer

Mauro Veglio La Morra, Langhe, Italy

To understand Mauro Veglio, return to the early 1900s in the hamlet of Ciotto near La Morra, where the Veglio family worked the land for generations. Angelo Veglio, born in 1928, dreamed of leaving the sharecropper's life to make wine under his own name from native Langhe grapes — above all Nebbiolo, in which he saw rare potential.

Of Angelo's three sons, only Mauro followed him. In 1986, aged 25, Mauro took over the winery; the cellars were restored, the vineyards renewed, and the first modern experiments begun. 1992 marked the first harvest vinified in the new winery beside the Cascina Nuova farmhouse.
