Tasting notes
Quinta Essentia is the celebration of perfection from thoughtful producers at Montemaggio. The Supertuscan, produced for the first time in 2008, is a result of blending their best Merlot with the best of the Sangiovese that land has to offer.
Following a careful selection, the two grape varietals are fermented separately for about 30 days at a controlled temperature in stainless steel and wooden conical vats. After malolactic fermentation, the Merlot is refined for about 18 months in french barriques, mainly for the second passage, while the Sangiovese is refined in large wooden barrels and partially in very big botti (5HL).
Finally, the two wines are blended and put in french barriques for about 6 - 8 months. The bottles are aged for a further one year before release. The result is a full body marvel with perfumed aroma and velvety tannins.
