Rising Bolgheri Superstar
How Orma from Tenuta Sette Ponti became one of Bolgheri's most exciting — and still affordable — Super Tuscans.

My own introduction to this emerging Bolgheri superstar was via the 2010 vintage. In ten years, Orma and the wider Tenuta Sette Ponti portfolio achieved what every vintner hopes for in a lifetime.
Tenuta Sette Ponti takes its name from the seven bridges connecting Florence and Arezzo, and sits in Valdarno di Sopra — one of the four historic winegrowing regions of Tuscany identified in the 1716 edict of Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici. The estate has been in the family for almost seven decades.
Orma — a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) — was first released in 2005 and caught the imagination of the wine world. The vineyards sit next to those of Ornellaia, and that proximity, perhaps more than anything, remains the inspiration. Orma is a Super Tuscan that earns the highest praise yet remains beautifully affordable.
