Tasting notes

Balnaves The Tally Reserve is an exceptional wine. Released with a bottle ageing of 10 years, the wine is a mesmerizing example of what a high quality Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, the region famous for its Cabernet can achieve.

We had the great fortune of opening the 2008 bottle at a recent gathering and this was the star of the show. It's a big wine so an hr of decanting is recommended although the 10 years bottle ageing, the wine is in great shape right at the opening. Extremely perfumed, ripe fruit and velvety tannins that seem to sing in perfect harmony, the bottle almost makes you forget there is also food on the table 🍷

Vivid crimson-purple; like a rich little boy, has everything he wishes; a fragrant dark berry bouquet with notes of French oak, leather and spice, than a full-bodied palate with a dazzling array of flavours; however, it is in the supple texture, perfect balance and line that the greatness of the wine finally takes shape. 97/100 James Halliday
